Fannie Mae is stepping up their efforts to help homeowners avoid foreclosure by requiring Loan Servicing Companies to reach out to borrowers earlier on in the default timeframe. This is aimed at avoiding more foreclosures and offering alternatives to those who otherwise cannot continue to make payments at their current terms.
